WHAT DO WE DO?
Lingkod E.R. – UST is a non-profit student organization that engages in humanitarian activities granting financial support to indigent patients in UST Hospital-Clinical Divisions’ Emergency Room through the Patient Assistance Program.
Lingkod E.R. – UST promotes awareness on the status of Philippine healthcare. We hold seminars, medical missions, community development projects, an Emergency Room Volunteer Program and other activities to engage members and create progress toward our goal.
OUR HISTORY
Dra. Luisa Ticzon-Puyat became a volunteer worker in the emergency room of Philippine General Hospital in the summer of 1996, where she realized the state of the healthcare system could not by itself support the needs of Filipino patients. She founded the Lingkod E.R. Foundation during her time as a pre-med student at the University of the Philippines, and expanded this organization when she entered medical school at the University of Santo Tomas. Through organizing various events and activities, Lingkod E.R. was able to raise funds to provide financial assistance to indigent patients in the emergency room. Thanks to Dra. Ticzon-Puyat's initiative and dedication, countless lives were saved.
Lingkod E.R. - UST, which began as a fundraising organization over two decades ago, has since grown into a strong university organization that adapts to current issues, raises health and healthcare awareness and is partnered with the UST Hospital in the fight to save lives. Our organization concerns itself not only with the plight of the indigent patient. As a leading health organization in the University, we are shaping the perceptions of the student body and local community toward their duty to help protect their fellow Filipinos' safety and well-being.
